Argumento:
Julia Rios de Rivera (Lisa Owen) es profesora de
comunicación en U.N.A.M en la Ciudad de México. Su marido es Moisés Rivera (Jesús Ochoa),
arquitecto exitoso con su propio negocio.
Se conocieron hace unos 15 años cuando eran estudiantes en la
universidad. Ahora tienen un hija
Ximena (Ximena Sariñana), quien tiene
aproximadamente 12 años.
Julia se
involucra con uno de sus estudiantes, Ricardo (Jorge Poza), quien es miembro
del grupo ecologista «Hoja verde» – ¡además de ser poeta! Hoja verde lucha contra un fraccionamiento
en un bosque de La Marquesa, la que es un Parque Nacional al suroeste de la
ciudad1. ¿El arquitecto del
proyecto? – Moisés, por supuesto.
Julia y Ricardo
tienen una aventura breve. Moisés se
entera y casi atropella a Ricardo con su automóvil. Ricardo escapa del auto de Moisés pero choque
con otro auto y se lastima. Para
recuperarse, se instala en la casa de Julia y Ricardo. ¡Por supuesto, la situación es muy incomodo y provee muchas escenas interesantes de
conflicto!
Julia recuerda sus
días como estudiante idealista y se une con las manifestaciones de Hoja verde
contra el fraccionamiento de Moisés.
En el principio, Moisés piensa sólo sobre el éxito del proyecto y el
dinero que va a ganar con él. Sin
embargo, al final da cuenta de que él también ha perdido la independencia de
pensamiento e idealismo de sus días con Julia en la universidad, y rechaza el
proyecto. Finalmente, Julia y Moisés
se reconcilian y Ricardo continúa su vida como estudiante idealista y
sensible con sus amigos de su propia edad.

Evaluación:
Me gustó esta
película. Es sobre la vida real y
actual en la Ciudad de México. Los
personajes son probablemente típicos de los profesionales de esta ciudad. Hay un montón de coloquialismos y
vulgarismos de México que evidentemente son parte de la vida cotidiana de
estas personas. La lengua era muy
difícil – ciertamente muy distinta de la lengua de noticias en Univisión, por
ejemplo. Ni siquiera podría encontrar
muchos de las expresiones en los diccionarios de argot o en otros
diccionarios como wordreference.com. Tuve que retroceder el DVD y cambiar
brevemente a los títulos en inglés para tratar de entender lo que el español
decía. Por medio de las cuestiones en wordreference.com y en la red, es
claro que incluso los hablantes nativos no entienden la significa de muchos
vulgarismos. El uso no tiene ningún
sentido por sí mismo y frecuentemente no aún encaja gramáticamente en la
oración. Es como niños diría «palabras
malas» sin contexto en su habla simplemente para un efecto grosero. Es especialmente desconcertante oír
personajes con educaciones universitarios como Moisés usando estos
vulgarismos en casi cada oración.
